Green Smoothies for Pets

In the wilderness all animals consume green foods regularly. Even polar bears are known to graze on grasses, kelp, and crowberries. All wild animals are notably healthier than household pets. I believe one of the key factors contributing to the poor health of our pets is that in captivity their access to green foods is extremely limited if not totally absent.

Several years ago, my son Sergei was visiting his friends, Jack and Amanda who had a diabetic cat.

Recipes for Pets

Buddy's Gourmet Green Smoothie

Blend well:
1 cup kale
ΒΌ avocado
1 cup water
1 Tablespoon nutritional yeast
1teaspoon kelp (granules or powder)
Yields: 1 doggy bowl (2 cups)

Bella's Dream

Blend well:
1 cup spinach
1 apple
1 cup water
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 capsules fish oil (pour on the smoothie, in the bowl)
Yields: 1 doggy bowl (add some torn nori sheets, dogs love it!)

Fluffy's Delight

Blend well:
1 cup wheatgrass clippings (or any other grass, not sprayed)
1 cup water
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 capsules fish oil (pour on the smoothie, in the bowl)
Pinch of catnip (optional)
Yield: 7 servings , you may freeze it in an ice cube tray and serve it by the cube
