Putting My Training To The Test
Last Sunday, I decided to put my “I Want Abs” training to the test by competing in my very first triathlon. A triathlon is a three-part sports discipline comprising swimming, cycling, and running. Because the three sports are contested as a continuous event without a rest, my fitness coach and I thought this would be a great way to test my overall endurance.
A typical triathlon training program usually ranges between 13-17 weeks and requires a person to swim, bike, and run 5-6 times per week. Because I was working on my abs, I didn’t do any of that.
My typical training schedule looked like this:
As you can see I did little to no swimming, running, or biking. All of my workouts focused on strengthening my core muscles, heart, and lungs. John, my coach, was convinced that this kind of training would prove itself in a triathlon setting. He was right; I placed 3rd overall in a race of over 100 participants.
It goes to show that this program works! When you train smart it affects everything, not just your abs. I’m thrilled with my race results and am more pumped than ever to share my movie with you!
The I Want Abs Kickstarter campaign is live and rocking it. If you’d like to pre-order a copy of the movie and help fund the project, visit: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sergeiboutenko/i-want-abs-0
